It’s time for some football!!!
Tonight, the Pats could bring home their sixth Super Bowl title in the last 17 years.
The only thing standing in their way is a 33 year old coach, the best defensive line in football, and a so-so inexperienced quarterback.
Offensively, I’m not afraid of the Rams…at all. They have some great receivers in Robert Woods and Brandin Cooks but the Pats just handled the best offense in the NFL a couple of weeks ago. They even shut that Kansas City offense out in the first half! It was a tremendous performance on the road.
In this game however, the biggest test will be stopping the LA run game. Todd Gurley is one of the best in the business (even with his recent struggles) and CJ Anderson aka the bowling ball has been running the ball very well. New England’s run defense has improved over the last month or so but against KC they let Damien Williams have a great game. Maybe that was a part of their gameplan though, not letting Tyreek Hill get the ball but forcing Williams to beat them instead. Either way, it worked for the Pats.
I expect Gurley and Anderson to have solid games for LA but that won’t be enough offensive firepower to beat the Pats. Rams’ QB Jared Goff is going to need to make some plays on his own and I just don’t think he can do it. The 24 year old nearly crapped his pants in the NFC Championship and on this big stage he’s going to do the same.
I’m not the only one who thinks this as one Pats’ staffer said, “He will **** his pants”. You can’t make this stuff up.
The #1 key to the entire game will be the Patriots’ offensive line vs the Rams defensive line. That’s it.
If the New England o-line can block like they have in both of their playoff games then they are going to dominant time of possession and even the game possibly. Tom Brady hasn’t been sacked or even touched this postseason and the line has paved huge pathways for the New England backs. LA’s defensive line is the best there is right now, so this will be the toughest test yet for the big boys.
The Pats have been involved in some of the closest Super Bowl’s ever. In loss or victory each game has come down to just a few points. A bounce in another direction and those games could’ve gone another way. This game though, I think the Pats will win by multiple scores. Not a blowout but a 10 point win or so! That’s still a close game but it won’t be the typical heart attack game for New Englanders. I’ll probably be wrong though as I was confident in that same outcome in last year’s Super Bowl.
Prediction: Patriots 34, Rams 24
It’ll be close for most of the game but Goff will make a couple mistakes, creating a more comfortable win than normal for the Pats! Let’s get six!
